Dr. Mollie Carruthers

Dr. Mollie Carruthers is an academic rheumatologist practicing in Vancouver, BC. She completed both her internal medicine and rheumatology training at Harvard Medical School affiliated Massachusetts General Hospital and medical school at Tulane University. She is a clinical associate professor at the University of British Columbia, Division of Rheumatology.

Dr. Carruthers is actively involved in clinical research. She has authored 20+ peer-reviewed publications including first authorship on a prospective clinical trial using Rituximab for IgG4-related disease (PMID: 25667206) as well as test characteristics of serum IgG4 (PMID: 24651618). Her clinical interests include IgG4-related disease, vasculitis, rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus. She is committed to providing excellent clinical care for all patients with rheumatic disease. Rheumatology inpatient consultative service is at the Vancouver General Hospital.

Dr. Carruthers is part of an interdisciplinary team researching IgG4-related disease at University of British Columbia. Her collaborators include Dr. Luke Chen (UBC Hematology Program Director), Dr. Andre Mattman (UBC Associate Professor of Medial Biochemistry), Dr. Graham Slack (UBC Assistant Professor of Pathology) and Dr. Brian Skinnider (UBC Associate Professor of Pathology). Current projects include further elucidating the test characteristics of serum IgG4 and exploring demographics of patients with IgG4-related disease as well as therapeutics.

Dr. Carruthers enjoys yoga, hiking and skiing. Her husband, two children and chocolate Labrador live with her in Kitsilano.
