Dr. Chan is an assistant clinical professor at the University of British Columbia who received his bachelor of medicine and completed his medical school training at the University of Alberta in 2009. He studied Internal Medicine at the University of British Columbia and completed his Royal College fellowship in Rheumatology. He was awarded the 2015 Assessment of Spondyloarthritis Society (ASAS) fellowship grant and completed a clinical fellowship at the University of Toronto in axial spondyloarthritis (ankylosing spondylitis). He actively pursues research in this field and has been invited to present on this topic internationally.
Dr. Chan is involved in the Canadian Rheumatology Association’s therapeutics committee and was coauthor of the Canadian Spondylitis Treatment Guidelines and is the core site leader of the national spondylitis and psoriatic arthritis research cohorts (SPARCC and iPART). Additionally he is a member of the Canadian, American and international research networks (SPARCC, GRAPPA, SPARTAN and ASAS).
Dr. Chan believes that only by engaging patients in the decision making process can patients maximally benefit. Professional interests include inflammatory arthritis and spondyloarthritis including ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, reactive arthritis, and IBD related arthritis.
When not in the clinic, he enjoys many of the natural resources Vancouver has to offer including biking, snowboarding, and hiking. He also enjoys cooking and exploring the cultural culinary diversity the city has to offer.APPOINTMENT: LEARN MORE
